Disturbance and Restoration of Metal Contaminated Peatlands
Peat-Metal is a NERC-funded project, working towards addressing the global challenge of mitigating risk of disturbances releasing heavy metals stored in contaminated peatlands.
The project will focus specifically on fire related disturbances, the associated heavy metal mobilisation risk, and potential mitigation strategies through peatland restoration.
Peat-Metal aims to build an international network of peatland researchers to share expertise and ideas, progressing a research agenda seeking to optimise ecosystem restoration as a means of limiting heavy metal mobilisation for the benefit of human and ecosystem health.
